Superman actor Henry Cavill has paid tribute to his dearly departed moustache in a tongue-in-cheek Instagram clip.
The actor made headlines last year after he was called back for Justice League reshoots at the same time as he filmed Mission Impossible 6, a role in which his character sports significant facial hair.
Paramount reportedly refused the actor permission to shave off his facial hair – which meant that the production crew behind Justice League were forced to digitally remove the fuzz.
things i am thankful for this year:
1) henry cavill's mustache
2) paramount being a petty bitch and not letting him shave it
3) the fact it cost Warner Bros. millions to CGI it out
4) this still pic.twitter.com/PBj3jOWtLi— Emma Tyler (@EmmaStoneTyler) November 20, 2017
Cavill, now clean-shaved, has appeared to mock the controversy.
“I know, it’s hard to recognise me with King Tache,” he says in a video posted to Instagram. “Sometimes it’s hard for me to recognise myself.”
“This is not CGI. He’s really gone. I can tell you this, though: I will remember him. Always.”
Sharing the video with the hashtag #ShavedButNotForgotten, Cavill then aired a loving tribute to his tache. Watch below.
