Epic Games has confirmed details of a new Fortnite collaboration with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits cinemas today (July 29) and to celebrate, the latest Marvel blockbuster is taking over Fortnite.
Last night, the official Fortnite X account shared an exclusive look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day before confirming that web shooters will be making their return to the hit online game from August 1.
“If you jump into Fortnite, web shooters are back, along with some brand new outfits inspired by the movie. Thanks again for all the love and support,” said Spider-Man actor Tom Holland. Fortnite players will also be able to purchase skins of Hulk, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Holland’s Spider-Man in the item shop.
“Haven’t bought a skin in a long time but this’ll be an instant buy. Brand New Day is my favourite version of the MCU Spidey suit,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “Oh yeah. Definitely getting Punisher. Been wanting him in game forever,” said another.
New outfits are also coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to mark the launch of Brand New Day. According to Holland, several of the fight scenes in the movie were inspired by the Insomniac game. “I was actually playing [Marvel’s Spider-Man] last night,” Holland told IGN at the red carpet for the movie. “I couldn’t sleep last night, I was so excited about today. I was trying to figure out what I was gonna do, and I was like, ‘I’ll just throw the game on and have some fun’. A lot of our stuff was influenced by that stuff.”
Earlier this year Peter Parker actor Ben Jordan teased that work has started on a new Marvel’s Spider-Man game. It comes after Peter Parker voice actor Yuri Lowenthal confirmed he would feature heavily in the unannounced Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, after the previous game ended with Miles Morales as the main Spider-Man. “Peter is not gone,” said Lowenthal. “He will be a part of the next game and he won’t be relegated to the couch, I promise.”
In other news, Lil Tecca has been announced as the next headline act of Fortnite Festival.
