The trailer for Disney+’s upcoming documentary film examining the career of composer John Williams has been released – watch it below.
The documentary, titled Music By John Williams, is a deep-dive into the life and career of the man behind some of cinema’s most iconic scores, including Jaws, Jurassic Park and the Indiana Jones films.
Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and more are among the film’s producers. The trailer sees them plus Star Wars creator George Lucas, director JJ Abrams, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Williams himself reflecting on his contribution to film and culture over his career.
Music By John Williams will premiere on Disney+ on November 1, and receives a limited theatrical release in London, New York and Los Angeles on the same day. It’s directed by filmmaker, producer and author Laurent Bouzereau.

Williams, now 92, started his career as an orchestrator at film studios, a session musician and jazz pianist, before going on to compose the music for several of the biggest movies and franchises in history. He has received 54 Oscar nominations, with five wins.
Speaking of Williams’ work in the trailer, frequent collaborator Spielberg says: “After he does music for my movie, I start to see my movie in his way. It’s the purest form of art I’ve ever experienced from any human being.”
According to Lucas, “Star Wars basically would not be Star Wars without John Williams’ music.”
Despite having had a career that spans over seven decades, Williams confirmed earlier this year that he was not retiring, after previously suggesting that James Mangold’s Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, the fifth instalment in the franchise, could be his last film.
Back in 2021, Williams was voted the ‘most popular living composer’.
