Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith appears to have criticised the Oscar committee for a lack of black actors among the nominees for any of the major categories this year.
Zero black actors have been nominated in the more prestigious categories for the 2016 awards, such as ‘Best Actor’ or ‘Best Actress’. The nominees were announced on Thursday (January 14), and in a year that includes such films as ‘Creed’, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and ‘Beasts Of No Nation’, many have been surprised at the perceived snubs of some expected contenders.
Pinkett-Smith, who is also married to two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith, took to Twitter to vent her frustration with the Academy. See the tweets below.
