Daisy Ridley says the set of Star Wars episode VIII is ‘lovely and warm and friendly’

Daisy Ridley has spoken more about the next Star Wars film, revealing further details about the current filming process and working with new director Rian Johnson in an interview posted yesterday (March 3).

Star Wars: Episode VIII is expected to be released in 2017, with British actress Ridley (who was introduced as Rey in Episode VII: The Force Awakens) joking to MTV News: “It’s two hours of me and Mark Hamill staring at each other.”

In the below video interview – via Entertainment Tonight – Ridley talks about the atmosphere on set with new director Rian Johnson, claiming “It’s still thae same. It’s very lovely and warm and friendly still”.

She then goes on “Obviously it went really well with VII, but it’s wonderful to give people a little bit. I think we did do that for VII, just a little bit to keep the interest peaked [sic].” Watch below.

Ridley added that she and Hamill “have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing”. She continued: “[Hamill is] amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff. It’s such a good story, seriously… Luke is so cool in this one. Really!”

It was also recently reported that Daisy Ridley is considering launching her music career and is record a song with a “massive music superstar”.

Disney are reportedly spending around £3 million on security procedures during the filming of the next Star Wars film in an attempt to prevent unauthorised leaks.

It is believed that there will be a “special team with drones” at the new site, alongside 600 guards and round-the-clock security with reports estimating that the total cost of security will be $4.3 million (£3.04m).

Cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega will return for Episode VIII, along with the introduction of Benicio Del Toro (Traffic, Sin City) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Wild).

Episode VIII will be preceded by a spin-off called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla).
