The past few years have been rather mad for Yxng Bane. From his first show at Birthdays in Shoreditch when he was so nervous that he made the driver go back around the block several times, before he would go in the venue), to selling out his headline slot at Omeara last year in minutes (where he was then joined on stage by Wiley), and now with his millions of streams on a hefty back catalogue of slick afro-bashment infused bangers, the young star is strapped in on a meteoric rise to success.
And if there was any doubt of that, his sold-out headline show at the Islington Assembly Hall was quick to stamp it out. With what seemed liked a revolving door of his musical pals on the side of stage, and the charisma of somebody with a decade more experience: Yxng Bane’s London show was an absolute triumph. Here’s what went down.
Open the curtains
With the stage set and Bane’s name projected onto the closed curtains on the main stage; as the DJ started to blast music that you couldn’t quite hear over the high-octane screams from the army of fans, the plush curtains opened to reveal the man of the moment: Yxng Bane. Who says making a dramatic entrance is over?
“Where’s my mosh pit crew”
Commanding the sold-out crowd from the moment he bounded on stage, Bane demanded a mosh pit on the second song. Too bold? Absolutely not, the audience were quick to obey Bane’s command.
With a little help from his friends
And as it was a special occasion, the army of fans were treated to a handful of guest appearances, including the excellent Don-E who jumped on stage to perform ‘You Alright Yh?’. Throughout the night, the Islington Assembly Hall’s stage seemingly hosted what could have been the entire future of UK music, with Kojo Funds, D-Block Europe and Young Adz all joining Bane.

He’ll be your bestie
“How many sexy girls stepped out with their best friend tonight?” Bane asked the crowd. Cue enough screams to give you temporary tinnitus. “Here’s mine!” he quipped – which could only mean one thing, Yungen was here. As his pal joined him on stage, they needn’t have sung the words to ‘Bestie’ – as every person in the venue was screeching them back at them.
All good things must come to an end
After 90 minutes of champagne spraying, and pausing songs to “get a couple of peng tings on stage”, the show had to come to an end; but not without an a cappella version of his viral ‘Shape of You’ remix, and the fan favourite ‘Rihanna’. Same thing this time tomorrow, yeah?
