It became one of 2015’s most distinctive displays of fan power. Here’s the back history: In July, 1,000 musicians from Cesena, Italy launched a campaign to get Foo Fighters to play in their town. Their plea saw drummers, guitarists and singers united on a cover of ‘Learn To Fly’, creating a viral video that got the band’s attention. And guess what? The Foos delivered. On November 4 the band performed – here’s what it looked like…
The Foo Fighters brought their full production with them for the show. Including Dave’s now famous throne.

One of the smaller shows they’ll play on their current European tour (they finish up in Barcelona later in November), the band played a 27-song set.

During the performance, Grohl invited the organisers of the viral video on stage. “To see you people, singing our song for the whole fucking world, to me, it’s the greatest moment of my life,” he told them. “Of course we couldn’t say no, we had to come. You trapped us, we had to come here.”

They also played Queen’s ‘Under Pressure’, during which one of the viral video’s organisers joined in on drums.

Grohl was back in his custom made throne for the gig, with his leg still recovering from the break he suffered that forced the band to pull out of their Glastonbury headline set in June.
