Spector made a return to their intimate roots in Manchester last night (May 14), kicking off the Ray Ban’s Envision Tour at the city’s Deaf Institute.

The last time Fred McPherson’s indie champions played Manchester it was at the 1,500 capacity, and Fred said last night’s show was “a glimpse into his past.”

260 lucky competition winners packed into the decorative location in the centre of town to see the band belt out the highlights from their album ‘Enjoy It While It Lasts’.

The Ray-Ban’s Envision series focusses on individuals who have found their purpose in life and are staying true to their vision.

Spector’s set included favourites ‘Twenty Nothing’, ‘Grey Shirt And Tie, ‘Chevy Thunder’ and ‘Never Fade Away.

At one point, Fred accidentally punched himself in the face.

Peace sign!

After a dazzling start from Spector, the next Ray-Ban’s Envision Tour date will see Theme Park play a boxing ring in Bristol on May 25. And the future’s so bright you probably will have to wear shades…

Because there’s shows from Theme Park and Willy Moon on the way, plus a top secret finale. For more information and the chance to win tickets, visit nme.com/rayban.
