The Ruen Brothers played a triumphant gig at the Priory Hotel in their native Scunthorpe on 21 June, providing the grand finale to the Jack Daniel’s JD Roots series of homecoming shows.
The Ruen Brothers are real-life siblings Rupert and Henry Stansall, 22 and 23 respectively.
The band learned their trade at the Priory Hotel playing in covers bands performing 60s rock ‘n’ roll classics.
They band received a rapturous response to recent singles ‘Aces’ and ‘Walk Like A Man’.
The brothers have been tipped for big things by the likes of Kasabian’s Tom Meighan and BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe.
The band opened their set with ‘Lonely Weekends’ before going into ‘Walk Like A Man’.
The set closed with the band’s version of ‘Got My Mojo Working’, the song made famous by Muddy Waters. The Jack Daniel’s JD Roots Homecoming shows have also included gigs by Miles Kane, The Family Rain and others. For photos and more, head to nme.com/smallvenues.
