At roughly 4:52am on the morning of June 21, thousands of folk will gather at Stonehenge to watch the sun come up through the sacred stones. People have been gathering at the spot for hundreds of years, and from 1974-84 there was even a festival, the Stonehenge Free Festival, which took place over the event, culminating with the Summer Solstice sunrise. We look back at some of the fun that’s been had at the special site over the years.
17,000 people travelled to watch the sun rise in 2006. Our fave is the raver on the rocks.
