Tim Burton has today (March 15) released the first trailer for his new film Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ .
The director – who is lauded for films such as Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice and more – has released the first trailer for the fantasy adventure, based on a book by author Ransom Riggs.
As Empire reports, ‘Miss Peregrine..’ follows a “weird, Mary poppins like character” (played by Eva Green) who watches over ‘peculiar children’ endowed with special and unusual powers and abilities. She can also metamorphose into a hawk. You can watch the film’s first official trailer, below.
The film also stars Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Burton has denied rumours that a Beetlejuice 2 film was on the cards, claiming that quotes in which he appeared to confirm he would direct a sequel to Beetlejuice were fabricated.
It was reported that the original cast of Beetlejuice had signed on for the sequel, with both Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton returning alongside Burton as director.
However, those quotes were false according to Burton’s camp. They insist there are no plans for a sequel and that Burton is busy working on his next film, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. That film is due for release in September and then he will direct a live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, Dumbo.
Beetlejuice 2 has been rumoured since 2011 when executives were reported s being unsure whether Keaton would reprise his role of the beloved spirit.
GettyBurton directed the 1988 original, which starred Keaton as a so-called “bio-exorcist” trying to scare away the new human inhabitants of a haunted house so that a ghost couple, played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, can continue living there. Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones and a 17-year-old Winona Ryder co-starred as the human family members.
