The Last of Us season 2 is taking deeper us into the post-apocalyptic world of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and, after just two episodes, some major shocks have already been revealed.
The latest season has introduces a number of new characters, including ones from the games and others created purely for the hit HBO series. From Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby to Isabel Merced’s Dina, these new faces are all playing a pivotal role in shaping Ellie’s character arc.
In The Last Of Us: Part 2 (the game in which the series is based), Ellie is a songwriter who is passionate about her music. Appropriately, the second season features a number of songs which offer an insight into her character. Many of them were also used in the game itself.

According to co-star Isabela Merced, Bella Ramsey had to make their acoustic cover of A-Ha‘s ‘Take On Me’ “worse”.
“They told her to make it so it sounded more like a regular person picking up a guitar, and not like this talented individual that just emits beauty in all directions. So Bella had to kind of tone it down a little bit. Even then I was still mesmerised and emotional,” she explained.
In a four-star review, NME wrote: “At its best, The Last Of Us is unsettling enough to make you question your own hypothetical moral code… This show doesn’t just go deep narratively – it also cuts deep emotionally.”
A third season has been confirmed but The Last Of Us creators have said they’ll need a fourth season to finish the story. Showrunner Craig Mazin has promised fans the TV show will not go beyond the game though.
‘The Last Of Us’ season two is available to watch in the UK on Sky Atlantic and NOW
