David Harbour has said he and Millie Bobby Brown “still adore each other” after harassment allegations surfaced last year.
In November, a report emerged that Brown had accused her Stranger Things co-star of “harassment and bullying” on set, which allegedly led to an internal inquiry on the Netflix show. The report stated that there were no claims of sexual impropriety.
Harbour has now addressed the situation in an interview with Variety, describing the report as “a weird thing” that “came out in a weird way”, and stressing that the two actors remain close and are currently working on “several” new projects together.
“It’s simple,” he said. “It was just a simple rupture-and-repair thing that, once we cleared everybody out of the way and talked to each other, we’re fine. Everyone nowadays is very scared of talking about things. People are very scared of being human. It’s unfortunate, because I don’t know how to navigate this weird media world. But it was completely normal, and we adore each other and always have.”

“You’ll see more of me and Millie,” he added. “10 years wasn’t enough. There is a special bond there. I love her. She loves me.”
Brown also spoke to Variety for the same article, saying: “Obviously I changed so much from Season 1 to Season 5, and David was there through all of it. Over time, our relationship became much more collaborative creatively. When you work with someone for that many years, we could really push each other emotionally in scenes. Even though the series has ended, there’s still a lot of gratitude. Getting to share that experience with him for so many years is something I’ll always remember and value.”
Shortly after the original report was published, Brown played down rumours of a rift with Harbour, insisting that it was “really exciting” to work with him on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
She later reiterated that she remained on good terms with her on-screen father. “We’ve worked together for 10 years. I feel safe with everyone on that set,” she said. “We also play father and daughter, so naturally you have a closer bond than [with] the rest. Because we have had some really intense scenes together, especially in season two.”
Netflix did not comment on the story, although co-creator Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter: “Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
In the same new interview, Harbour also spoke out for the first time about the “weird” experience of Lily Allen detailing their break-up on her album ‘West End Girl’.
“It was weird,” Harbour said about living through the album’s release cycle. “I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.”
“I can’t really say that much more, because it’s my private life,” he continued. “In spite of the fact that a lot of people don’t allow me a private life – I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won’t speak about that.”
