IU recently covered G-Dragon‘s ‘Butterfly’ and ‘That XX’ during the latest episode of her YouTube talk show, IU’s Palette.
Big Bang rapper G-Dragon recently made a guest appearance during the latest episode of IU’s online series, IU’s Palette. The K-pop star appeared in support of his recent solo comeback album, ‘Übermensch’.
During his time on the programme, the pair talked about working together on their 2017 collaboration, ‘Palette’. IU revealed she had requested they perform it together during the episode and heard that G-Dragon had rewrote the lyrics of his verse “to make a 2025 version”.
“At the time, when you were making the song, you said you wanted to leave certain songs for certain ages,” he explained. “Back then, we were thirty and twenty-five. We sang it at a very pretty age. But now…,” as he laughed and continued, “So I thought a lot about what to say [in the new lyrics.]”
Later in the episode, IU also performed live covers of two G-Dragon songs: ‘Butterfly’ and ‘That XX’. G-Dragon, meanwhile, returned the favour by sharing his own rendition of IU’s ‘Bonamana’.
Later this week, G-Dragon is set to kick off his 2025 ‘Übermensch’ world tour, with the kick-off shows in South Korea’s Goyang Stadium on March 29 and 30. Following his Seoul shows, the Big Bang rapper will bring his tour to Japan, Malaysia, China and more.
Meanwhile, IU is currently starring in the Netflix K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines alongside Park Bo-gum. Set in 1960s Jeju, the series follows a couple as they weather the trials and tribulations throughout all four seasons on the South Korean island.
