Today (November 24), the Tottenham rapper surprised fans with a new five-track EP, which is his first EP and solo project in two years. The news comes a week after he green-lit the official release of Ryder’s refix of his 2016 song ‘Text Me Back’, dubbed ‘Skeptacore Pt. 3’.
The track is a part of the Hull-based producer Ryder’s ‘Skeptacore’ song series, which became popular on SoundCloud. The 19-year-old is known for his ambient flips of classic grime – mostly Boy Better Know songs – on the streaming platform.
When Skepta came across Ryder’s ‘Skeptacore Pt. 3’, which became popular on TikTok as well, he invited the teenage production protégé to work on two new tracks with him; ‘All Alone’ and ‘For You’. Both songs feature another one of Skepta’s protégés, Dré Six, who added additional vocals to the songs. Fans can check out the full tracklist and have a listen below.
Skepta and Ryder’s ’48 Hours’ EP tracklist:
1. ‘All Alone’ (featuring Dré Six)
2. ‘For You’ (featuring Dré Six)
3. ‘Skeptacore pt. 1’
4. ‘Skeptacore pt. 2’
5. ‘Skeptacore pt. 3’
Recently, the grime legend also entered a joint venture with fellow BBK member Jammer in creating their own record label, Más Tiempo. The label releases house and electronic music rather than the grime sound the two are known for.
Skepta paid tribute to the late Camden singer Amy Whitehouse back in October when he put out his own remix of her 2006 ‘Back To Black’ album single, ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’. The song, ‘Can’t Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)’, was his first single of 2023 and released via Más Tiempo.
In other news, Skepta is working on a visual project and held a casting call looking for an actor to play his younger self last month. The rapper hasn’t said anymore, surrounding the mystery project.
