You might not be a fan of the big festival boom – too many to choose from, not enough variety on the line-ups –but come autumn, it’s great. Why? Because it means there’s always another festival on the horizon, even if your tan has long faded. Here are nine festivals still to come this year.
On Blackheath
What’s the vibe: Wholesome family fun. If you need a break from having a mad one but aren’t ready to wave goodbye to the festival field yet then Blackheath will sort you out. They’ve got demonstrations from celebrity chefs, circus skills, kids yoga, and more on offer.
Who: Squeeze, Paloma Faith (pictured), Billy Bragg, De La Soul, and more.

Mint
What’s the vibe: Raving at a former RAF airfield. Make the most of the last of the sunshine at one of the final outdoor festivals of the year.

The Warehouse Project
What’s the vibe: Extremely late nights and lots of big beats. Warehouse Project deals in predominantly electronic music and they always manage to get the best in the biz down to play over the 15-week series.

What’s the vibe: Mid-ranging indie acts to help you see off festival season with a wave of bright, bouncy melodies and a few last singalongs.

Twisterella
What’s the vibe: Being able to say you saw them first. Some, like Childcare and Estrons, come with big-name support from the likes of Bastille and Garbage. Others are so new you’ll be able to impress your mates if they make it to the big time.

Swn
What’s the vibe: The best in new music with a Welsh slant. Radio 1’s Huw Stephens is one of the curators of Swn so you know the line-up is bursting with fresh gems for you to find. There’s also slightly bigger faves, like Drenge, Gwenno, Goat Girl, Dream Wife and more, for when you want something a little more familiar.

Simple Things
What’s the vibe: There’s two line-ups for Simple Things, despite it being a one-day event: day and night. On the day side, you’ll find mostly bands, ready to pretend it isn’t the middle of the afternoon, while the night bill is populated by techno and electro DJs Helena Hauff and DJ Stingray i.e. people who’ll pull you onto the dancefloor.

What’s the vibe: Discovery. Even if you’re the most in-the-know when it comes to new music, you likely won’t have heard of every single band on this line-up. Painstakingly listen to every act beforehand or take a punt on an interesting name – you might end up with a new favourite band by the end of it.

Shiiine On Weekender
What’s the vibe: The ’90s, obviously. If you fondly remember living through Britpop or just love the music from that decade, then Shiiine One will be like paradise for you. Of course, the truly massive bands (Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass etc) won’t be present, but you’ll still be able to get nostalgic with the era’s undercard.
