Comedian Caroline Aherne has died from cancer at aged 52, her publicist has confirmed.
The star and writer of The Royle Family and Mrs Merton was diagnosed with lung cancer last year having previously recovered from eye and bladder cancer. She passed away at her home in Timperley, Greater Manchester.
In recent years, Caroline also narrated hit Channel Four television programme, Googlebox.
Fellow comedians have been quick to pay tribute to the much-loved star. Edgar Wright described Caroline as having ‘funny bones’.
