The Bernie Sanders democratic presidential campaign will be hosting a special event at Coachella, entitled ‘Berniechella Block Party’.

The free event is expected to fuse a rally – it’s not yet clear if Sanders will attend – with live music and DJs, and will have the capacity to host around 3,000 people. It will take place in Old Town Coachella ahead of the festival’s second weekend, on the evening of April 21 and morning/ early afternoon of April 22.

The line-up includes latin hip-hop stars Ozomatli, Alex Evert of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Venus and The Moon alongside art exhibitions and a beer garden, and is being paid for in full by the Sanders campaign.

Sanders has proven a popular candidate with many musicians since launching his bid to become president, with Vampire Weekend, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M, Run The Jewels and Grizzly Bear (who played for the first time in two years at a Sanders rally) amongst the acts to have vocally supported the democrat.

Killer Mike of Run The Jewels even did an hour-long interview with Sanders, in which the two debated a number of hot issues in US politics.

The six-part discussion between the pair is divided into sections and posted on Killer Mike’s YouTube channel. The sections deal with various aspects of Sanders’ politics, and are entitled Economic Freedom, Social Justice, Rigged Economy, Free Health Care: It Ain’t A Big Deal, This Country Was Started As An Act of Political Protest, and Democrats Will Win When People Vote.
