Nicki Minaj has said she is owed $200million (£148m) by Jay-Z, and that “Democrats attacked me over my cousin’s balls”.
In a recent series of posts on social media, Minaj was starting to take aim at several figures and organisations – with one of her main targets being former collaborator Jay-Z. Minaj claimed that Jay owes her somewhere between $100million (£74m) and $200million (£148m)
Her claims over the alleged unpaid earnings are linked to her equity in the music streaming platform Tidal. She said that she was initially given a three per cent stake in Tidal at its 2015 launch, but was offered only $1million (£738,000) for her share of the company after it was then sold to Jack Dorsey’s Square for $302million (£223m) in 2021.

In her social media posts, Minaj later said: “Democrats attacked me over my cousin’s balls.”
Back in 2023, she said that her cousin’s friend in Trinidad had been left impotent after being vaccinated against the virus. “His testicles became swollen,” she added. “His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”
In her recent posts, made on July 8, 2025, she said: “Democrats attacked me over my cousin’s balls,” she began going after the left. “Remember? Let’s see if they have any thoughts on that DESIRAT pardon. Let’s see if they have any thoughts on brother billionaire never campaigning for Kamala even after Obama pleaded with the ‘brothers.’”
She then added: “Isn’t this THEE ‘brother’?!??!! Thee one ‘brother’ who could’ve probably gotten the job done for yall?!?!!!! Welp. If the top brother in charge can leave yall hanging w/o repercussions then may everyone else leave you hanging as well. Hanging like my cousin’s friend’s balls.”

In the days following Minaj’s 2023 tweets about her cousin’s testicles “becoming swollen”, the Health Minister for Trinidad & Tobago shut down the claims.
In a press conference, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Trinidad & Tobago’s Minister of Health, said the country’s officials had looked into Minaj’s claims. “It is, as far as we know, at this point in time – there has been no such reported either side effect or adverse event,” he said.
“And what was sad about this is that it wasted our time yesterday, trying to track down, because we take all these claims seriously, whether it’s on social media or mainstream media. As we stand now, there is absolutely no reported such side effect or adverse event of testicular swelling in Trinidad or, I dare say, anywhere else. None that we know of anywhere else in the world.”
Previously, Dr Anthony Fauci refuted Minaj’s claims, telling CNN that “there’s no evidence […] nor is there any mechanistic reason to imagine that it would” cause fertility issues in men or women.
The UK’s Professor Chris Witty also told the rapper she “should be ashamed of herself” for spreading misinformation.
At the time, then Prime Minister Boris Johnson added: “I am not as familiar with the works of Nicki Minaj as I probably should be. But I am familiar with Nikki Kanani, a superstar GP of Bexley who has appeared many times before you, who will tell you vaccines are wonderful and everybody should get them. That’s why I prefer to listen to Nikki Kanani.”

While being worked on by her style team, the actor was filmed rapping Minaj’s verse in the 2010 hit monster, the musician’s collaboration with Ye (then known as Kanye West). Ortega was cheered on by her team before smiling at the end of the clip.
