Olivia Rodrigo has officially released her new collaborative song with The Cure‘s Robert Smith – listen to ‘What’s Wrong With Me’ below.
The pair debuted the breezy heartbreaker during Rodrigo’s surprise set at Primavera Sound in Barcelona last weekend. It came after Smith said he’d “enjoyed a couple of memorable nights in the studio” with the singer earlier this year, following his appearance in her headline slot at Glastonbury 2025.

In the melancholic chorus, Rodrigo and Smith sing in unison over a gorgeous synth-y instrumental, as they address the negative impact of an unhealthy relationship: “Went to the doctor and she said I was fine/ But every movie that I see makes me cry/ It’s like somebody put a weight on my chest/ I should talk to a friend/ But I can’t get out of bed.
“My head is spinning and my stomach is sick/ Say I’m in love, so it’s hard to admit/ I can’t eat, I can’t sleep/ I think you’re what’s wrong with me.”
After an electric guitar solo, Smith’s solo verse goes: “I keep looking for distractions/ Hope the feeling passes/ But I’ve got to say/ It’s getting harder every day/ And I can’t seem to get around it/ Head just keeps on pounding with/ The simple thought/ What if this isn’t what I want?”

At Primavera, Rodrigo told the audience: “I can’t believe this song exists with the person that it exists with. I’m just so fucking over the moon […] I feel like I’m gonna cry. I can’t believe that’s a thing that happened in the real world and not just a figment of my imagination.”
‘What’s Wrong With Me’ – Rodrigo’s first-ever collaboration on an original song – appears on her third album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’, which was released today (Friday June 12).
She has described the record as “experimental” and full of “sad love songs”. The record also features the recent singles ‘Drop Dead’ and ‘The Cure’, and delves into feelings of “jealousy” and “longing” that arose from Rodrigo’s first “big girl relationship”.
The pop star is set to showcase the album on her massive ‘Unraveled Tour’. The trek will see her joined by Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party and more. Last year, Rodrigo released her live duets with Smith as part of her ‘Live From Glastonbury 2025’ album. She had introduced the frontman by calling him “perhaps the greatest songwriter to come out of England” and “a personal hero of mine”. Rodrigo has since said she’d been “diving deeper into The Cure’s discography”.
Shortly after Glastonbury 2025, the star shared some photos from Worthy Farm, including one of her hanging out and doing shots with Smith backstage, and going to bed wearing a Cure T-shirt.
In 2023, Rodrigo spoke about going to watch The Cure and Depeche Mode live with her dad.
Speaking to in 2021, Rodrigo said both her mother and father were “music heads” and had encouraged their daughter’s artistic endeavours from an early age. “I love pop-punk music; I love grunge music; I love country music and folk music,” she explained at the time.
