Kate Bush has brushed off the idea of a feature film based on her life story.
The famously reclusively 58-year-old singer-songwriter said that she would not be comfortable with a biopic being made about her in a new interview.
“I don’t think it’s a very nice idea at all,” she told Canadian magazine Maclean’s. “I don’t think my life is that interesting. I’m quite a private person and I like my work to do the talking.”
But despite withholding her blessing for a biopic, Bush disclosed a rather unusual preference for the actor to play her.
“However, if I ever were in a position to choose who would play me, I think I’d choose Johnny Depp,” she added.
In the same interview, Bush praised Theresa May, describing the UK prime minister her as “wonderful”.
“She’s a very intelligent woman but I don’t see much to fear,” she added. “I will say it is great to have a woman in charge of the country. She’s very sensible and I think that’s a good thing at this point in time.”
Bush became the first woman to achieve a self-penned UK number one with ‘Wuthering Heights’ in 1978 and her 1980 album ‘Never For Ever’ made her the first British solo female artist to score a No.1.
