Vampire Weekend took over a popular Manhattan food emporium to film their latest music video, directed by Hollywood actor Jonah Hill.
Regular shoppers at Zabar’s were surprised to see Hill and Ezra Koenig behind the fish counter, as the store remained opened during filming.
According to Stereogum, some of the customers even got a cameo as they were chosen to appear by the counter with the band. However, some customers reportedly complained that filming was getting in the way.
A crew member reportedly told onlookers that the video is designed to show “a day on the Upper West Side.” The Internet member Steve Lacey was also spotted behind the counter.
You can see some pictures of the video set below, as well as a potential snippet of the single.

The video comes after Vampire Weekend released the first two tracks from the long-awaited ‘Father Of The Bride’ in ‘Harmony Hall’ and ‘2021’. ‘2021’ is a short and sweet electronica-driven number leaning on their more esoteric side, while ‘Harmony Hall’ sees the band back in full summer-pop mode but with a touch more cinematic splendour. Check out NME’s review of the songs here.
The band have also been confirmed for a number of European festivals this summer, including Gdynia’s Open’er Festival, Madrid’s Mad Cool, and Lisbon’s NOS Alive. UK dates are yet to be confirmed.
