Interpol have announced an intimate after-party show, following their slot at All Points East later this month.
The New York rockers are set to perform at Deftones‘ huge Outbreak Fest show in London on Sunday August 23 – joining a stacked line-up that also includes IDLES, Amyl & The Sniffers, Esdeekid, JPEGMAFIA, Basement, Wisp, Deafheaven, Show Me The Body and more.
Now, following the outdoor gig at Victoria Park, Interpol will be heading to Village Underground for an intimate after-party.
Held in partnership with Rough Trade, doors to the gig will open at 10pm on August 23, and tickets go on pre-sale on Thursday (August 13) at 10am, before the general on-sale kicks off on Friday (14) at 10am.
“London, stoked to play our official @allpointseastuk after party,” the band wrote on Instagram, sharing a poster for the gig. They also confirmed that fans can find pre-sale access on the Medallion app.
Other confirmed acts for the Deftones gig at All Points East include ¥øu$Uk€ ¥uk1mat$U, AFI, Mannequin Pussy, Salem, Blawan, NME 100 graduates Ecca Vandal, Villanelle and Tooth.
They are joined by Dublin alt-rock band Brooki, LA trio Clarion, Atlanta rapper/singer Kenny Mason, nu-metal/grunge outfit Overgrown, and Daniel P Carter’s new project Reclus.É. You can find any remaining tickets here.
Deftones’ gig comes following a UK and European headline tour earlier this year, which included an epic, sold-out stop at The O2 in London and celebrated the release of their 10th and latest studio album, ‘Private Music’.
For Interpol, the support slot and subsequent after-party gig comes ahead of them dropping their ninth album ‘This Mirror Weighs A Ton’ on August 28 via Partisan Records – pre-order it here.
That album has been previewed by the Massive Attack-inspired title track, ‘See Out Loud’, and ‘Iron City’. The latter finds the band leaning into the tension between past and future that runs throughout the new record.
Speaking to NME about the song, frontman Paul Banks said that it was meant to be seen as “a conversation between the human narrator and the future artificial intelligence that’s running things.”
Asked if he fears AI, he responded: “No. AI replacing art can only base itself on what we’ve made, so without new stuff it will devolve into a simulacra and have no bearing on the human experience. We need to be feeding it new real stuff for it to be doing anything of real note.
The album will also feature ‘Wings On Fire’, which the band debuted live earlier this year. Banks described that track to NME as “a fun romp”, adding: “That’s the fulfilment of what we were aiming to do on this one, in being more rocking and raucous.”
Interpol signed to Partisan Records earlier this year, and will head out on a UK and European co-headline arena tour with Bloc Party later this year, including two nights at London’s Olympia on December 4 and 5. See the full list of dates here and find tickets here.
