Hurts, Everything Everything, Darwin Deez and Active Child brought the NME Radar Tour to London tonight (May 10).
All four hotly tipped acts showcased their songs in a front of a huge crowd at KOKO in Camden as they brought their first fully-fledged tour to the capital.
Proceedings kicked off with LA electro pop newcomer Active Child, who was making his UK debut.
Switching between a harp and keyboards, the singer was also backed up by a bassist as he performed hymntronic tracks such as ‘Take Shelter’ and ‘When Your Love Is Safe’.
Announcing his arrival to the UK, singer Pat Grossi declared: “Wow there are a lot of you. We are from LA and this is our first show in London so we are very excited to be here,” before he quipped after a member of the audience asked where his drummer was: “The drummer got axed so we’ll move on.”
New York‘s Darwin Deez and his band went down a storm with the KOKO crowd as they filled their show with syncopated dance interludes, press-ups, mime routines and dance offs to 80s classics such as The Bangles former Number One hit ‘Walk Like An Egyptian’, The Simpsons song ‘Do The Bartman’ and Beyonce‘s ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’.
Performing tracks from his self-titled debut album, the singer threw in new song ‘Hey Mom’ before the crowd sang along to recent single ‘Radar Detector’.
Deez also declared that he was going straight to the merchandise stand after the gig, where he was later spotted selling T-shirts.
