WWE fans have taken to social media after the conclusion of the main event of WrestleMania 41 saw Travis Scott give John Cena some assistance.
The two-night tentpole event has so far seen appearances from musicians like Living Colour and Slayer, with the ‘FE!N’ rapper making a surprise appearance towards the end of the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Peacemaker star Cena and Cody Rhodes yesterday.
In front of a packed crowd at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium last night (April 20), Scott aligned himself with Cena, having previously appeared as an accomplice in attacking Rhodes with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in February. Later, Johnson shared that Scott was training for his inevitable in-ring debut.
Having walked out to surprise fans, Scott didn’t get involved initially, but yanked the referee out of the ring when it looked like Rhodes had the advantage, which led to the rapper being hit with Rhodes’ finishing move, the Cross Rhodes.

That moment provided Cena a window to capitalise after the distraction, with him eventually pinning Rhodes in a historic victory that marked a now record-breaking 17th world championship.
However, many fans felt Scott’s hand in the moment as a celebrity cameo not only cheapened the win, but didn’t make sense. This, coupled with the fact Johnson didn’t show up – despite instigating the feud between Cena and Rhodes, has left some calling it a “boring ass match” with “No Rock and an unnecessary celebrity appearance”.
Many agreed, and were surprised such a monumental victory had been booked that way, with one X/Twitter using writing: “It’s part of a bigger issue. The whole show felt soulless and corporate. And I can’t see it getting any better.”

More musicians, influencers and actors have been showcasing their interest in the WWE in recent years. In 2023, Bad Bunny main-evented the Backlash event, having made his debut in 2021.
Speaking to NME recently, wrestler Charlotte Flair – daughter of Ric Flair – said of Bad Bunny’s career: “He has been incredible anytime he’s made an appearance. You can really tell his love for the industry and [how] he respects it and puts in the work. So kudos to him.”
Sexyy Red recently revealed she could have wrestled in WWE if she had more time to train. She, instead, had segments on NXT and hosted Battleground – a premium live event exclusive to the yellow brand.
