Drake looks set for a first solo number one single with his new track ‘One Dance’, while his other new song of the past week ‘Pop Style’ is also set to enter the UK charts inside the top 30.
The Official Charts Company have revealed post-weekend figures that show Drake on course for the chart peak, with the rapper’s only previous UK appearance at the top of the singles charts coming as a guest on Rihanna‘s single ‘What’s My Name’ in 2010.
Sia is Drake’s main challenger, with the soaring vocalist sitting at number two so far with ‘Cheap Thrills’, ahead of Mike Posner with ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’.
Drake’s two tracks were surprise released last week, with Jay-Z and Kanye West guesting on ‘Pop Style’.
The tracks follow a string of Drake leaks, which has included ‘Controlla’ featuring Popcaan and a cover of Nico’s ‘These Days’ and ‘Faithful’.

The American’s new release ‘Gore’ sits just ahead of two other new entries, The Lumineers’ ‘Cleopatra’ and All Saints comeback album ‘Red Flag’. Adele‘s third album ’25’ – released way back in November – is at number four.
The Deftones return has proven controversial within the group, with guitarist Stephen Carpenter having trouble getting on board with the new album.
He recently said “as you may or may not have heard, I had some trouble liking some stuff [on the new album] in the beginning,” Carpenter said. “I’ve been down with too many frowns.”
‘Hearts/ Wires’ was Carpenter’s biggest issue, with the guitarist saying “That song made me think of Wild Bill the whole time – psycho killer and shit. I just didn’t feel it. I had to embrace my inner psycho rapist and come up with the part and get into it.”
