Beabadoobee has spoken to NME about her upcoming London shows with Sabrina Carpenter, as well as why she thinks it is important to embrace imperfection in her music. Read the interview below, or watch the video above.
The singer, songwriter and guitarist caught up with NME while on the red carpet for the BRITs 2025. On the night, she was up for both Artist Of The Year and Alt/Rock Act, although the awards ultimately went to Charli XCX and Sam Fender.
Speaking to NME, Beabadoobee opened up about her recent comments about embracing imperfections in songwriting, and why she thinks it is important to be honest with fans. “There is a beauty in mistakes, I think. Hearing the rawness of someone’s art is cool to me, and that’s why I like the simple songs the best,” she said.
She also elaborated on how she captures this best in her own music, adding: “I play the guitar, but I’m not trained as a musician. So the chords I write with aren’t the most technical, wanky chord progressions.
“That’s what I depend on, trying to find a melody that brings something to life. I think there is a beauty in that.”
Beabadoobee also discussed her upcoming shows in London this summer, where she will be joining Sabrina Carpenter at her huge headline shows at BST Hyde Park.
“I was so happy [to get the support slot]. She’s so lovely and we’ve spoken a couple of times, so I can’t wait to do that. It’s going to be really fun! I love sharing my music in real-life experiences.”
She continued: “As for what to expect from my life show, everyone says that I have around 10 guitar changes. I actually get scared that people will get annoyed at that because I’m constantly changing guitars.. but expect a lot of different coloured guitars!”
From there, Beabadoobee will also be heading out on a headline tour across the US. The shows comes in support of her third album ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves‘, which was given a four-star review by NME.
“[‘Girl Song’] is a heart-wrenching song, filled with a multitude of complex and often contradictory emotions, the knotty realities of young womanhood laid bare,” it read. “That’s something that shines through the whole of ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ – Beabadoobee’s knack for capturing the twists and turns of growing into yourself with relatable candour. A collection of songs that showcase the tangled feelings of this time, the young artist’s third record is a poignant, powerful thing.”
At the 2025 BRIT Awards, Sabrina Carpenter opened the show with a huge medley of her biggest tracks. The pop star was also nominated in the International Artist Of The Year and International Song Of The Year categories, although both trophies ultimately went to former NME Cover star Chappell Roan.
