A popular Pokémon TCG Pocket fan-theory about how to get rare pulls from booster packs has seemingly been debunked.
Ever since the first Pokémon games were released onto the Game Boy in 1996, fans have been sharing tips and tricks about how to get the best ‘mon for their collections. A secret way to catch Mew in Red & Blue was passed around playgrounds around the world even if it didn’t actually work, while the game-breaking MissingNo hack gave players unlimited Rare Candy and a glitchy new Pokémon.
And now rumours about Pokémon TCG Pocket are doing the rounds online.
According to one popular fan-theory, you can tell which booster packs have rare cards by looking closely at the condition of the wrapping. When it comes to opening a booster, players are given the choice of several identical-looking packets, but those with slight wrinkles or creases are rumoured to contain the rarer Pokémon cards.
Can confirm the bent top of @PokemonTCGP booster packs has a noticeably better pull rate for higher rarity cards and EX Pokemon. #Pokemon #PokemonCardPocket #PokemonCards pic.twitter.com/hRo1bpOVdS

If you're drawing a pack, please wait a moment!
Turn the pack on its side and look at the upper right side! If there are any bent there’s a good chance there’s a rare card inside! #PokemonTCGP#Pokemonpocket
