It’s been confirmed when Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will get a new wave of cards and the long-awaited trade feature.
Free-to-play mobile game Pokémon Pocket launched late last year with the Genetic Apex set of cards for players to collect. The set was split between three different packs – Charizard, Pikachu and Mewtwo.
In December the smaller, Mythical Island expansion was revealed but now developers have confirmed that next week will see the launch of the next major expansion.
Space-Time Smackdown was revealed in a short teaser trailer yesterday (January 23) and will be released next Wednesday (January 29). Rather than focusing on the second wave of Pokémon introduced in Gold & Silver (1999), the new set of cards will be led by legendary ‘mon Dialga and Palkia, who were the mascots of Diamond & Pearl (2006).
The trailer also confirms the inclusion of that generation’s starter Pokémon, Pilpup, Turtwig and Chimchar. New versions of existing cards will also be available in the new set.
The day before (January 28) will see Pokémon Pocket launch the long-awaited trade feature, which will allow you to swap your cards with another player. To start with, trading will exclude cards with a two-star rarity and up.
You’ll also only be able to swap cards of equal rarity and players must be friends to trade. Trades will also be restricted by two new currencies (‘Trade Hourglass’ and ‘Trade Token’) that seem to be based on time between trades and rarity of cards being switched.
