The original soundtrack for 007 First Light is finally available to stream.
Released earlier this year, 007 First Light is an original James Bond origin story, created by Hitman developers IO Interactive. The action adventure game sees a young Bond (played by Patrick Gibson) trying to earn his license to kill while dealing with a rogue 00 agent.
The game’s theme tune was composed by veteran James Bond musician David Arnold and performed by Lana Del Rey while First Light’s original soundtrack was created by The Flight (Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Odyssey).
Today 38 tracks from 007 First Light were made available to stream. Check out the 110-minutes of music below:
“It was a huge thrill but also nerve-wracking, because it’s quite a responsibility,” The Flight’s Joe Henson told the BBC about soundtracking First Light. “You don’t realise until you’re working on Bond how much a part of you it is.”
“The pressure comes from all those Boxing Day afternoons, sitting on the sofa with your dad, watching the old films. And even if you’re going to have something like this, which is a new angle on the franchise, it’s still got to live with all those other great scores as well,” added bandmate Alexis Smith.
However some fans are upset that a few tracks are missing from the digital release of the 007 First Light soundtrack, including the ravey remix of the Bond theme from superstar DJ Dimitri Vegas and Grace ‘Gigi’ Ogun’s cover of ‘The End Of The World’.
“007 First Light shows a version of James Bond we haven’t really seen before in a world that we’re familiar with. We needed a song that moved the sound of the universe forward, but could also exist alongside all the great songs that have come before,” IO Interactive’s Dominic Vega told NME earlier this year. “We wanted the theme to anchor it in what we already know [to show people] it’s part of the same world,” added Arnold. “Music has been so important to the James Bond series. To run away from what’s made it great would have been foolish.”
In other news, it looks like The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake will go up against Grand Theft Auto 6 after its release date was leaked online.
