We’ve got a new video series at NME called The Sample Life. It’s pretty straightforward: we take a producer or artist to a record shop to pick out a few random LPs and then give him or her 30 minutes to make a track from scratch. Watch the first episode below featuring Jack Steadman from Bombay Bicycle Club, who did a pretty amazing job while telling us about his musical hero, J Dilla, and how he used sampling on the band’s recent album ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow’. Listen to the full-length track below.
